WordPress adds fingerprint-scanner for Android app Version 4.9

WordPress looks to improve its app on Android with its latest update. The app now has support for devices with fingerprint scanners and it also features a new media library interface. On devices compatible with Android 6.0 (Android Marshmallow), you can set up the fingerprint scanner to unlock your lock screen instead of typing your PIN code. If your device is compatible with this feature, you’ll see the fingerprint icon, as seen here:

A fingerprint icon should show up if your device is compatible with this feature. WordPress also makes managing multiple photos and video uploads easier. They cleaned up the interface of the media library and added Material Design elements to it.

Minor changes

  1. Fixed an issue that was deleting posts instead of moving them to the trash.
  2. Fixed a bug that was incorrectly asking for credentials of users with an Author role.
  3. Solved an issue when opening some external sites from the app browser: a few sites were not recognizing our app browser and were hiding content (Facebook videos, for instance).
  4. Corrected a problem regarding disappearing avatars on the Comment list.
